Basch Team Walks for Breast Cancer

2008 marks the fifth year Basch Subscriptions has fielded a team to help in the fight against breast cancer. Jessica Flanders and Katy Hogan were Co-Captains for Basch’s largest team ever.
The 5K walk was part of a nationwide effort to raise money for breast cancer research. “Basch’s Boobilicious Babes” raised over $1,000.00 this year! A big THANKS to all who walked and their supporters.

Buzzy Basch Wins Library Partner Award from SLA

The Illinois Chapter of the Special Library Association has awarded Buzzy Basch its 2007 "Library Partner Award!"

The Illinois Chapter of SLA had high praise for Buzzy and for Basch subscriptions:

"Long time member and friend of the Illinois Chapter, and Sponsor of our Annual Business Meetings for a number of years, our winner this year is Bernard “Buzzy” Basch. Basch Subscriptions epitomizes the quality serial service which Buzzy has developed during 30 years in senior management positions with Faxon, Turner and EBSCO. Buzzy has co-authored a manual for librarians on serials acquisitions, has authored numerous articles on serials management, and has taught many courses and seminars on serials management topics and issues. In addition, Buzzy has held elected and appointed positions in SLA, ASIS, and ALA, and is currently an SLA Fellow."

Buzzy Basch to Sit on Board

The Haworth Information Press publication "Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian" (formerly the “Serials Librarian”) has a new Editorial Board Member. The journal is dedicated to the management of serials and other continuing resources and is one of the most accessed publications by librarians for up-to-date information. Buzzy will bring to this honored position years of serials experience, and his practical insight will be invaluable for choosing article topics and featured authors.

Check In Your Periodicals with BOSS!

The Basch Online Subscription System (BOSS) now has the capability to check in your periodicals. This powerful Check-In module is fully integrated with the rest of BOSS and provides a number of sophisticated interactive tools:

• Check in individual serials issues
• Claim missing issues: BOSS will automatically create claims for individual issues you haven't received. Of, if you prefer, you can manually claim a particular issue.
• Check the current status of previously submitted claims

The BOSS Check-In module is designed for medium-sized libraries who want a simple system for keeping track of individual issues and do not have this capability as part of an integrated library system.
