Introduction

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

This notice applies to all information collected from or submitted to the following Basch Subscriptions, Inc. ("Basch") web sites: www.basch.com and www.thereferenceshelf.com. To make this notice easier to read, these web sites may be referred to as "our web site."

Our web site contains links to other web sites operated by third parties. Basch is not responsible for the privacy practices or policies of such third party web sites and this privacy policy does not apply to those web sites.

Information Types Covered in This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy distinguishes between two types of information described as follows:

Personally Identifiable Information

Personally Identifiable Information is information that you provide to us — such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, credit card number, or financial information — that could identify you individually.

Non-Personal Information

Non-personal information is information that Basch may obtain during your visit - such as your browser type, the uniform resource locater (URL) of the previous website you visited, your Internet Service Provider (ISP), operating system, or your internet protocol (IP) address. Non-Personal Information cannot be easily used to personally identify you.

Information We Collect

Our web site is not set up to automatically collect personally identifiable information from each visitor to our web site. It does recognize the home server of visitors, but not email addresses. For example, we can tell which ISP our visitors use, but not the names, addresses or other information about our visitors that would allow us to identify the particular visitors to our web site. This information is used only for internal purposes by our technical support staff.

Our web site does track non-personal information during visits to our web site. For example, we compile statistics that show the numbers and frequency of visitors to our web site and its individual pages. Personally identifiable information is only available to Basch if you provide it to us. Basch collects personally identifiable information primarily for the purpose of serving individual Basch customers: to manage their subscriptions, e-journals, accounts, etc. Basch may also collect personally identifiable information for collaboration efforts, contact information to respond to customer inquiries, newsletters, etc.

Basch does not share personally identifiable information collected from our web site with third parties, except as needed to process orders placed with us by our customers, including any associated claims, refunds, etc. Typically, customer order information will be provided by Basch to publishers or their representatives, fulfillment houses, and shipping companies. We only provide such entities with the minimum amount of personal information necessary to complete the requested service or transaction.

Basch does not sell personally identifiable information for the purposes of third-party marketing, unless you have granted us permission to do so.

Basch does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personally identifiable information on a child under the age of 13, we will delete that data from our systems. Basch encourages parents and guardians to go online with their children. Here are a few tips to help make a child's online experience safer:

Teach children never to give personal information (such as name, address, phone number, school, etc.) unless supervised by a parent or responsible adult.
Know the sites your children are visiting and which sites are appropriate.

The Basch Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The date of the current version of the Basch Privacy Policy appears at the bottom of this page. You agree that continued use of the web site is an acknowledgment and consent to any terms contained in the Basch Privacy Policy, current at the time of use.
